Modi package for Kashmiri Pandits: A significant step by the centre?
Modi government is going to take its first step to fulfill its poll promise of rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits and all set to grant an enhanced package of Rs 20 lakh per family for re-construction of their houses in their land only the final stamp has to stamped.

Is it really a great step towards Kashmir Pandits? And, are Kashmiri Pandits really happy with the initiative or they expect something more from the government? Let's keep an eye.

Shri Ram Sena Jammu-Kashmir state president, Rajiv Mahajan says, A package of 20 lakh rupees per family to bring back and rehabilitate Kashmir Pandits in Kashmiri is surely enough. Since 1989, they are out of Kashmir, not only in Jammu but through out India and across the world, and all the migrants are very much interested to come back to their land. It will definitely prompt them to return back to their land.

Kashmir Pandits are intelligent, honest and innocent. Most of them are well established in their respective places working in multinational companies, public sectors and various government sectors as high paid employees across India and abroad. Although a rehabilitation package of 20 lakh rupees per family to re-construction of their houses is enough, it is too less as compared to their earnings and they will never come back leaving all.

S P Kachru, General Secretary, Kashmiri Pandits' Association, Mumbai says, For the time being, I am not concerned about the package but if it really announced, it is really a constructive step. If the new government offers a rehabilitation package of 20 lakh rupees to each family and other safety measures and how and where to establish assuring all types of support from the government, a new road will be constructed to bring Kashmiri Pandits back to Kashmir and nearly 70-80% Pandits who have been eagerly waiting to go back to their land will follow the road to Kashmir.
