Months after his son's death, Engineer commits suicide in Jammu
The story is about the mass corruption in PHE Department of Jammu and Kashmir which claimed the life of an Executive Engineer and his engineer son within a year. Both the father-son duo committed suicide within a gap of few months.

RAMESH KUMAR Gupta was posted by PHE Minister, Taj Mohi-u-Din as Executive Engineer at Baghliar project to discount the trauma, after he lost his son. It had not been long since the person had been promoted but, Gupta jumped from the fifth floor of Government Medical College, Jammu yesterday, without any reported immediate provocation.

As per the reports, he parked his car at the Government Medical College, Jammu and then rushed to the fifth floor of the college building from where he jumped and died on the spot. Reports also said that police have recovered a suicide note from the spot, in which Gupta has not blamed any person for this extreme step.

The deceased, Ramesh Kumar Gupta was a son of Bajender Gupta resident of Channi, Jammu. It is worthwhile to mention here that the son of the deceased too had committed suicide almost a year ago by jumping into the River Chenab when he too was posted there as Junior Engineer.

PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, which were lately in news for exchanging hands for lakhs in order to get the right postings. Has the minister concerned, become a ‘Kasai’ (butcher), which led the father to rue the untimely death of an innocent son?

Believe it or not, where recent transfers and postings in the Hydraulic Department raised lot of hue and cry, accusing former Chief Engineer and present Advisor turned consultant, V.K Abrol, to the Hon’ble Minister, Jenab Taj Mohi-u-din, who happens to be the trouble shooter to the Cherry-lipped Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, but will such suicidal measures garner any support?

Only time will tell or will the Chief Minister work overtime to hide under the carpet, the uncalled death of Mohammad Yousuf, an NC worker, who reportedly frequented the Chief Minister’s office, allegedly worked with the CM and took bribes from MLA’s to award them better positions in the government.
