With something that was used during the political unrest in Iran, for reporting events and sharing breaking news happenings during that time by the common man to becoming a world phenomenon, the main reason for Twitter in becoming so was not because of the “Where am I right now?” upshot. The real reason behind Twitters ever growing popularity was the Real time search. This real time feed advantage in Twitter has made Both Microsoft and Google spending much of last year courting Facebook and Twitter.
Industry analysts have suggested the increase in traffic witnessed by Twitter in January is directly related to the introduction of real-time search results by search engine giant Google. this means people value the fact that they are getting real time feed of each and everything happening in this world which is why more people are tweeting.
According to an industry blog, Twitter had almost 73.5 million visitors in January, up from 65.2 million in December 2009, the main reason suggested by analysts is Google’s announcement in Janauary that real-time search results from Twitter would be included alongside traditional Web search in its Google Search Appliance.
