Primary as well as secondary schools in Berhampur district in Odisha are facing serious problems due to lack of teachers. Keeping this in mind, the government of Odisha has decided to appoint more teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner of Secondary and Medium Education, Government of Odisha, Usha Padhi stated that more Siksha Sahayaks will be appointed as soon as possible and more emphasis would be given to the remote areas in the three districts. She directed all CIs to balance the number of teachers with the number of students. The student teacher ratio is 37:1 in Ganjam and 50:1 in Berhampur city. Taking into consideration several complaints, which have been received against the Cluster and Block Resource Centre Coordinators, Performance Review will be done from October onwards, she stated. Issues regarding mid-day meal scheme were also discussed at the meeting.
Project Director, Odisha Madhyamika Siksha Parishad, Narayan Jena; Secretary of Odisha Primary Education Project Authority, Krishna Gopal Reddy; Director of Secondary Education, Srikant Prusty, were among those present at the meeting.
