A SURVEY conducted by the Economic Times about most powerful CEOs of India Inc has thrown new light on Indian CEOs. While some moved up the ladder, others relegated from top 10 list.
According to the survey, Ratan Tata retained his topmost CEO post in industry and is followed by Mukesh Ambani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Azim Premji, and Chandra Kochhar in that order. Top CEOs were chosen from a list of 500 senior executives of various industries.
Among those who dropped out of top 10 list include Anil Ambani who dropped to 11th position and Sunil Mittal, who ranked18. Among others who dropped out of top 10 are Vijay Mallaya and Navin Jindal who now stand at 43rd and 17th positions respectively.
Those who moved up are Cyrus Mistry and K.V.Kamath. This is due to the new posts they are now occupying. The biggest move to top 10 list went to L&T AM Naik who moved from 30th to seventh position. Among CEOs of Indian origin in global industry, the number one position went to LN Mittal followed by Indira Nooyi and Nikesh Arora.
The top position among global thought Leaders in India went to Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen in first position who was followed by Ram Charan and Vijay Govindarajan. In the main list, two subsets  of two groups were created, one for top women and another one for the most MNCs headed by Indians. The top women CEOs list is headed by Chandra Kochhar and is followed by Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, and Shobhana Bhartia. In the most powerful MNCs headed by people from India, number one is Nitin Paranjpe, followed by Shivakumar of Nokia, and Google’s Rajan Anandan.
