Most-wanted Maoist leader Jampanna surrenders before Telangana Police in Hyderabad
Top Maoist leader Jinugu Narasimha Reddy alias Jampanna surrendered before the Telangana Police on Friday night, according to media reports.

55-year-old Jampanna had joined the underground party about thirty years back, as per sources. He hails from Chirnapalemu village in Thorruru Mandal of Mehabubbad district of Telengana state. Jampanna's wife Hingi Rajitha (37) is also said to have surrendered before the police along with her husband. She is a native of Damira village of Warangal district and had joined the party while pursuing her post graduation in Mathematics at Oshmania University way back in 2003.

According to sources, a ruling political party legislator from Warangal facilitated the surrender of Jampanna and his wife. Jampanna is an expert in military operations and is said to have been the head of Odisha State committee's military commission and the Kalahandi-Kandhamal-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) divisions of the Maoists.

Jampanna had reportedly been active on the Chattisgarh, Odisha and Andhra border for a long time. He was one of the 11 members from Telengana of the Central Committee which is the supreme body of CPI Maoist party. Jampanna carried a reward of rupees 25 lakh while his wife carried a reward of Rs 20 lakh.

Sources have said that ideological differences with other leaders could be the main reason for his surrender.

According to sources, he had been appointed as the Secretary of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal committee. He had led the Maoist in the 2008 Nayagarh armoury loot and the 2004 Koraput district armoury attack that provided the much needed ammunition to the party members.
