Motive of US Navy Yard shooting rampage still a mystery
A US naval base in Washington witnessed shooting rampage on Monday in which 13 people got killed and over dozen injured along with shooter who also exchanged fire with police before being shot dead.

According to the FBI, one of the three suspected attackers Aaron Alexis, 34, who had earlier worked with the US navy went on a shooting spree, as reported by various news channels. The motive of the rampage is not clear yet.

According to media reports, the other suspect who was arrested was later cleared but yet another was still being sought. Reports said the shooter was armed with an assault rifle and had barricaded himself in a room in a headquarters building of the naval base.

Due to this incident of shooting rampage, security has been tightened at other federal buildings of the US. Even, the Senate officials' premises were shut down in the Capitol while the police searched for another suspect.

It is said that the gunman aimed down on people from a higher floor. Lamenting the mass shooting and killings at the naval base, President Barack Obama promised that whoever carried out this cowardly act would be held responsible.

Washington DC Mayor Vincent Gray has been quoted saying, "we don't have any reason at this stage to suspect terrorism, but certainly it has not been ruled out."

Meanwhile, the police have started seeking information and investigating the recent past behaviour of the shooter and his probable links and contacts.
