Movie Review: The Last Airbender
With such an overtly fantasized script the film is attracting people's ire for having included only white people in the film's cast. The only Asian connection is the Britain born Indian actor, Dev Patel, who plays a bad guy in this film.
BASED ON the popular kids' TV series, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, Pondicherry born Hollywood director, M.Night Shyamalan gives a shocker with his cinematic adaptation of the movie in 3D. The movie revolves around the first season of the show where the world is divided into four parts, Air, Water, Earth and Fire.
On the racially motivated issue, Jackson Rathbone said, “ I think it's one of those things where I pull my hair up, shave the sides, and I definitely need a tan. It's one of those things where, hopefully, the audience will suspend disbelief a little bit” . The story revolves around the four provinces representing the elements Fire, Water, Earth and Wind. These provinces wage a war against each other. The first one to do so are the people from Fire, who not only intend to burn the other provinces but also managed to burn a hole in pockets of those who watched it. Apparently, The Last Airbender is the first part of the movie which is slated to be a trilogy. The second part is expected to be released in 2011 and third in 2014. The viewers who intend to watch these movies are advised to take into account their Sixth Sense in order to overcome the trauma and bear with the expenses.
