BSP chief Mayawati on Monday, rewarded the BSP MP alleged to be responsible for the attack on Rita Bahuguna Joshi's Lucknow house. She appointed BSP MP Intezar Abdi as the deputy chairman of the UP Sugar Corporation
THE SPARRING between Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress in Uttar Pradesh is continuing with both sides making shrill attacks on each other. BSP chief Mayawati on Monday went a step ahead and rewarded the BSP MP alleged to be responsible for the attack on Rita Bahuguna Joshi's Lucknow house.
Giving more ammunition to the rival Congress, which has been demanding CBI probe into the attack, Mayawati appointed BSP MP Intezar Abdi as the deputy chairman of the UP Sugar Corporation.
Abdi is accused of leading a mob of arsonists, who set Joshi's house on fire.
The Congress, which has demanded a CBI inquiry into the attack alleged that the move by chief minister clearly points to the complicity of BSP leader in the incident. The party has alleged that Intezar's appointment clearly points to the manner, in which criminals are being rewarded in Uttar Pradesh.
UP Congress chief Rita Joshi, meanwhile, said that attack on her house was state sponsored crime and the UP chief minister had given the consent for the same. Joshi was released from jail after a Moradabad court granted her interim bail.
