MP Ghubaya's dilemma: Whether to vote for NDA or UPA during Presidential Election 2017!
Member Parliament from Ferozepur Sher Singh Ghubaya is in dilemma on whether to vote in favour of the NDA or the UPA, during the upcoming Presidential Election 2017.

Recently, the absence of Sher Singh Ghubaya in the meeting of Akali-BJP Lok Sabha MPs and MLAs with Ram Nath Kovind – NDA'spresidential candidate –raised a number of questions.

In India, the President is elected by an electoral college comprising of elected members of the Lok Sabha, elected members of the Rajya Sabha, and elected members of the State Legislative Assemblies.

The total number of voting MPs in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha is 776, while the total number of voting MLAs is 4,114.

It is pertinent to mention that an ignorant Sher Singh Ghubaya had fielded his son as the Congress candidate from Fazilka constituency, who luckily won during the recently concluded Punjab Assembly elections. Now the time for litmus test has come for Ghubaya with the upcoming Presidential Election 2017 as he has not yet been expelled from the SAD because of his anti-party activities for openly supporting his son as Congress candidate being an SAD MP himself.

In case, Ghubaya supports UPA's candidate, chances are that the SAD would take action against him. In the event of his following the SAD and voting for Kovind, then both the NDA and UPA would get one vote each from the family.

There are also chances that in case Ghubaya choses to vote for UPA candidate Meira Kumar, then he could be consideredforMP candidature from Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, which is currently a hot issue among the political circles at the village level.

There are different views as to for whom Ghubaya will vote for. It is most likely expected that he will express his resentment by voting in favour of the UPA candidate.

Since the presidential election is intended to be free and fair, and representatives are supposed to exercise their free will, and political parties are not allowed to issue a whip to their members for voting.

In fact, although Ghubaya has not yet opened his cards, it is an admitted fact that he is a cool and composed customeras far as the game of politics is concerned.

But one thing is certain; his vote in the Presidential Election 2017 will definitely decide his political future.
