Mr. Modi focus only on development politics, not on polarisation in any way
It appears that the Congress never learnt a lesson. In last three Gujarat elections, Narendra Modi has proved to throw back the barbs/Jibes on him re-packaging in his own style to his advantage. In last Gujarat election, the Congress was extra careful on this fact and didn’t attack Modi at all. Result was although Modi won Gujarat, but the vote percentage as well as seats won by Modi was less in compared to 2007 Gujarat Assembly election.

When Priyanka Gandhi termed Modi’s politics as low level politics, Modi was quick to grab this jibe as an opportunity to play caste politics immediately. He re-packaged Priyanka’s jibe as an attack on lower caste. The effort was so catastrophic, even Mayawati, who appeared to be distancing from Modi, the Congress and SP to win anti-Modi votes, had to come forward to attack Modi, because dalits may desert BSP in such an emotive issue.

I don’t like Modi’s intention of polarizing people on caste basis. But somehow I don’t blame him either. The polity is divided itself on religion and caste basis. Modi’s great achievement is that he never initiated any polarizing effort. But whenever opponents gave him opportunity, he taken hand in hand and does it smartly putting all the blames on the opponent!

Now the Congress is doing all fire fighting and definitely on desperate basis knowing well Modi’s effort to identifying with Dalits (although he is from OBC category and not from Dalit). But it’s said, all is fair in love, war and Indian election. Indian voters’ particularly oppressed groups always votes emotionally. Modi taken the opportunity so smartly that he can’t be blamed entirely!

I also sometimes feel that our society itself is so divided emotionally that we encourage politicians to polarize us! Why should we be provoked on caste or religion? If we are provoked, then why is to blame politicians?

Narendra Modi started his campaign at a positive note of development. He continued with this. The Congress, SP and TMC in fact polarized first. After some phases, the internal survey might have told the way voters voted. May be development is not only enough for some communities and castes. It’s our way of thinking that guide politicians to take their course.

Anyways, I always was admirer of Modi’s discipline in this election campaign. At the closing hours of this general election, although I blame Priyanka Gandhi for irresponsible jibe, society and voters for dirty and divisive mindset, I equally blame Modi for inciting caste-polarization!

He claimed to bring change in the polity. He expressed his intent to contest the election fairly and on development issues. He says India first. Why then despite provocations from the Congress and social dirty mindset, he stooped so low? A general comment of low level politics can’t be equaled with lower caste politics!

Mistakes are always there. I hope and wish Narendra Modi should realize his mistake. He must clear the air and stop polarizing society on any basis. My friend Sandip Saha from Asansole was saying this morning that management students must learn from Modi what exactly management is. He prefers silence tonight on this caste-politics.

I would always request or rather alert Mr. Modi that 2014 general elections are a watershed moment in Indian election's history. Irrespective of result, people should remember this election as how a single man made development as an election issue!

Stooping down to caste politics would never make any good for Modi in the history. One should wish Modi realize his mistake and rectify it. Else people like me will distance from him permanently! Indian public has much more expectations from Modi and they never expect Modi to be another leader who indulges in polarizing politics.
