MS Dhoni - A stubborn attitude costs India dearly
Everyone loves Dhoni for his vision, his unabated leadership qualities and his cool temperament clubbed with a tremendous fighting spirit. Also, the way he encourages the youngsters and leads by coming upfront even in the worst situation, it is deeply admired by one and all. Very often, he helps team India in sailing out as winners from a crucial encounter, by finishing in his aggressive style. He is also known to be a very effective statistician. He never hesitates to give chance to new bowlers and once he extends his support, he tries to provide ample time even when the bowler fails to perform.
Likewise, once a batsman earns his trust, Dhoni does not hesitate to ensure that the batsman is given enough opportunities for which Dhoni allows him to even change his batting position as per the suitability. Also, at times, Dhoni goes for different kind of experimentation by putting in the spinners when the batsmen expect the least. On a number of occasions, MS Dhoni
has, while playing at number 6 position, not only encouraged the tail-enders batting at the other end to stay alive on the wicket, but also guided them as to how to rotate the strike by taking a crucial single.
His excellent wicket keeping, innovative helicopter shot and habit of extending complete support to the team mates in all conditions is admired highly. Also, he has been imposing discipline on the field and a kept a composed attitude on and off the field. He enjoys so much of faith that recently when there were few write ups wherein it was apprehended that Dhoni might leave captaincy of one of the formats of the game, no one seemed to be ready to accept this. At least he has secured his place till the next world
cup to be held in February 2015 in Australia and New Zealand. Perhaps, keeping in view the fact that he will be nearing 34 years, it will be an appropriate time for him to take the decision. But given his fitness and god's wish, millions of his fans would like to see him scaling further glories for many more years.
Surely we do believe in our captain, but it appears that he has not taken a befitted decision this time when after winning the toss, he chose to field. Technically this appears to be a very big mistake, as given the rainy weather and the suitable bowling conditions it would have been a much favorable option for team India to bowl first. Even the commentators were surprised, as it is a well known fact that neither do we have capable bowlers to take 20 wickets in unfavorable conditions, nor are our key batsmen running in the best of their form. Thus, the option to bat first causes India to lose the forth test match. Let us hope that in the future MS Dhoni will keep this in mind and will take appropriate decisions which are suitable for the team.
