Mulayam Singh should not be condemned; Men's Rights Group stands with him
Recently we all witnessed a roar on SP chief Mulayam Singh’s statement on Rape. What he actually said was that the rape accused should be punished for sure however; innocent person should not be punished. I totally agree to this statement as the statement is in the best interest of the law. This statement of his, as soon as given was flashed on all TV channels with twisted lines. The entire statement was changed, I heard one of the News Channel’s anchor saying “Ye Besharam Bayan Diya hai Mylayam Singh Yadav ne (This shameless statement is given by Mulayam Singh Yadav)”. I wonder what is shameless in this statement? Is it the statement itself? Or is it the intention behind making such statement? I don’t find this statement offensive at all.
What is wrong in being pro men or what is wrong is one politician talks about misuse of law, when Police, NCW, Media, Judiciary everyone know that Anti Dowry Law viz 498A and newly drafted and implemented anti rape law is grossly being misused. NCW filed a complaint against Mulayam Singh. Every political party condemned this statement. All the candle bearers stood against the statement. Everyone is busy giving their own versions on the statement.

When asked what about the humiliation and harassment a man faces when a false rape or 498A case is filed against him and the case is later found to be fake and frivolous? Would he be returned his dignity? Would he be reimbursed for the days he lived as an accused of false rape case or false 498A case? If yes, how would he be reimbursed? The reimbursement can be made if punitive actions are taken against the accuser or so called victim whose complaint is found to be false. But sadly, there is no provision of prosecuting a false complaint maker in India as the society still is considered to be male dominated and females are still considered to be harassed for over 5000 years.

Even if punitive actions are taken, this still does not given back, the man, his dignity. I have heard many NCW members and politicians saying that no woman would make a false rape complaint. I find it really funny as we daily witness one or the other victim turning hostile and admitting to making false complaint for one or the other reason.

Still if feminists and NCW thinks that there are no false complaint made, then why are they afraid of making laws gender neutral and why are they afraid of amending such laws? NCRB Statistics also reveal the proximity of the rapist with accusers. It has been found that 90% of the case the accused was known to accusers.

Now either the accuser was duped, or the relationship failed or the women faked whatever may be the circumstances this situation is extrapolated to rape. The rape laws nuances have left immense scope for unscrupulous women to claim rape on even minor incidences. While all the reactions are against MSY, entire MRM supports MSY on his stand and appreciates his approach towards misuse of female oriented laws and would vote for SP in these LS elections.

Men’s rights activists are making constant efforts to amend these anti male laws and have met all major political parties and their leaders including AAP, BJP and Congress. No one even addressed the issue which Indian Men and its families are facing. MSY at least understood the pain and agony of Indian men and their families. He understood how vulnerable a common man is under the threat of these anti male laws. Also, this is where the need of NCM (National commission for Men) and Men’s welfare ministry arise. As today not only high profile men, even the politicians have a fear of false accusation. This indeed is the need of the hour. We need social and judicial reforms.
