Multi-faith prayer service held in Nevada for peace in Syria
A multi-faith prayer vigil for reconciliation and peace in Syria was held at Holy Cross Catholic Community in Sparks, Nevada.

Led by Roman Catholic Priest Reverend George Wolf, other participants included distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, Spanish Springs Presbyterian Church Sparks Pastor Howard R. Dotson, Knights of Columbus and others.

Father Wolf read the prayers from Psalms, Deuteronomy, Isaiah, etc., asking the Lord to “deliver us from evil that lies hidden in our hearts”.

Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, after sprinkling few drops of water from river Ganga of India, considered holy by Hindus, read Gayatri Mantra, considered the most sacred mantra of Hinduism, from oldest scripture of the world still in common use Rig-Veda in Sanskrit and the participants repeated after him.

He also recited from Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita (Song of the Lord), both ancient Hindu scriptures, and concluded with “Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti” (Peace, Peace, Peace be unto all).
