Mumbai to have air-conditioned bus stops soon
Mumbai residents, who for long have admired the Delhi Metro will soon have air-conditioned bus-stops for luxury buses plying on city roads, if a new proposal by BEST goes according to plans. BEST has identified 18 locations for the proposed stops.
MUMBAIKARS NEED not pine for the comforts of Delhi Metro anymore. According to a new plan being considered by the BEST Undertaking, soon air-conditioned bus stops might be introduced for AC busses, known as Kinglong busses. If that is not all, ATM machines and small canteens would also be in the vicinity of the same.
"Eighteen locations, out of the 40 proposed, have been identified. These include Maheshwari Udyan, Sion Hospital, Ghatkopar station (East), Gandhi Market, Rajawadi Hospital, Garodia Nagar, Glass Factory, Seepz, Esic Nagar, Juhu beach, Nana Chowk, Santa Cruz police station, Kirti College, Prabhadevi, Poonam Chambers, and Churchgate," said a BEST official.
This move would surely compliment the new, stylish stainless steel bus stops that have recently cropped up. The undertaking is supposed to be in a 15 year contract, with the advertising rights remaining in the pocket of the company itself.
Moreover, there are ambitious plans to introduce about 200 more Kinglong busses, and making the ride more comfortable for people. The shelters would be taking a minimum of four month period to be built.
