Mumbai's Islamic thinkers observe Palestine Day today to protest against Israeli attack on Gaza; Pepsi, Coke faces boycott
Islamic thinkers and Ulemas in Mumbai are observing Palestine Day today in a protest against continuous air-strikes on Gaza city in the name of targeting Hamas and other militants in the coastal enclave. The thinkers in a meeting on Tuesday had also decided to boycott American and Israel made products.

India-Palestine Solidarity Forum's General Secretary Feroze Mithiborwala, who was part of Tuesday's meeting, while speaking to us from Mumbai over phone informed that the protest against the Israeli attacks is going on. He said that Indian Hotelier Association has decided to boycott Coke and Pepsi today.

"The Palestine Day is being observed here in Mumbai. In the Mosques prayer for the well being of the Palestine people was done. Hotelier Association is also boycotting Coke and Pepsi. The Islamic Students Organisation have also distributed black badges in the colleges and universities," said Mithiborwala.

The Palstines Day is being observed in protest against the Israeli attack on the Gaza city in the name of targeting Hamas and other militant groups. In the brutal attacks, as per various reports hundreds of innocent civilians have died including children, men, women, senior citizens.

Not only this but in the meeting it had also been decided to send a delegation to the Consulates of Israel, America and other countries to apprise them with the sufferings of people living in Gaza city.

The entire Muslim community across India had been appealed by the clerics in Mumbai to pray for the well being of Palestine citizens in Gaza city on Friday Congressional prayer. Imam of Mosques had been also urged to concentrate their Friday sermon on the ongoing Israeli bombing on Gaza.

PRO for Jama Masjid in New Delhi, however, denied to have any information about any such appeal. He said, "We have no information about that, so we are up to nothing regarding this."

Maulana Arshad Madani, National President of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind and teacher of hadees in darul Uloom Deoband in northern Indian state UP, when contacted for his views on the appeal made from Mumbai, preferred to maintain silence.

Abdul Hameed Nomani, secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind supported the observance of Palestine Day today and said that Israeli attack on Gaza city is nothing but an attempt by the Israeli forces to cease everything that belongs to Palestine.

"The Muslim organization has decided to condemn attack on Palestine and Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind is also part of this. Israelis are demonstrating their power in a wrong way. Israel is all trying to cease the land and everything which belongs to Palestinians and to settle Yahudis there. Just to violate peace in Gaza, Israel is attacking. Earlier, I condemned the attack and still I am doing the same," said Nomani.

He added, "Israel's reason behind its attack on Gaza is that a boy from Israel had been abducted by the person who belongs to Palestine and later on killed by the same. But how justifiable it is that because of a single person, the whole community is victimized to the brutal attack. How relevant it is to kill hundreds of people by giving such lame reason behind their act. It is very sensitive issue and it need to be condemned.
