Mumbai's New Year party can extend till 5 am
It is a great piece of news for Mumbai party animals as Bombay High Court today gave permission to celebrate New Year's Eve in pubs and restaurants till 5 am. The High court ruled out the deadline set by the Mumbai police to party till 1:30 am only, which was said to be done in the interest of women's safety.

The case was taken to the court by owners of pubs and restaurants in Mumbai and they won their case today. The single judge bench of Justice G.S. Patel took up the case and rejected the argument saying, “Did the Shakti Mills gang-rape case happen on New Year's Eve?”

The police in their defense stated that there are concerns about terror attacks also, by the seven suspects, who are missing from a jail in Madhya Pradesh. But the judge didn't buy that, and said, “Threat perception to the city will be there all the time. Not just on December 31,” as reported by NDTV.
