Murder to be a brand: Mahesh Bhatt
The prolific director wants to make Murder a movie brand. He talks about Murder 2 and the other Murders to come for the audience.
MAHESH BHATT feels that he struck gold when Murder became a Box office hit. Murder 2, the sequel of the film, has fired the imagination of the director and he wants to make the crime thriller a franchise now. So we will have our own Mission Impossible or Bond series kind of brand with Mahesh Bhatt’s Murder. Hopefully, it would try and be as good as these movies.

Talking about Murder 2 and not including Mallika Sherawat in the movie, Mahesh Bhatt says that he never pictured Mallika Sherawat in the sequel as the second part is a man’s story contrary to the first part, which was a women’s story. He also says that after getting some reference about Sri Lankan actress Jacqueline Fernandez and that her first movie Aladin bombed in the box office he looked her up. After looking at her portfolio pictures and talking to her the casting of the actress was very spontaneous.

The prolific director went on to say that he did Murder 2 with a clear focus. Adding on to it he further said, “We decided to make Murder 2 with a clear understanding that it would have the key components that were in Murder, which is erotica, edginess and experience of crime and thrills. And this is going to be the brand of Murder. We are not going to stop here. We are going to make Murder 3, Murder 4 and so on.”

The Murder 2 explores the dynamics of the unmarried couple and the problems they have as the director believe that now-a-days these couples face more problem then the married couple. Thus, the director of the film, Mohit Suri, has focused on a couple who is unmarried and chased by their own demons.

Mahesh Bhatt is always known as a forthright and candid director, who calls a spade a spade. Talking about the movie he also talks about the physical aspect of a relationship and how Indians are guilt-ridden to use the word sex. Quoting him, “I want to take out guilt from sex. There is an age-old relation between sex and guilt. Indian heroines used to be very reluctant about doing bold scenes, taking it to be a dirty thing. That's the fountainhead of your life, how could it be dirty.”

Murder 2 is stated to be released in July 8 and Emraan Hashmi is donning in the lead actor’s role.
