Mushrooming malls are 'one stop' for all and sundry
Malls entice people and no one is ever able to escape their attraction. The mall culture has brought about a new array of choices for the people who did not have great choices for entertainment.

TILL ABOUT a decade ago, people in our country used to look out for options to have fun during their free time. Entertainment options were there, but limited. People used to choose their fun element from movies, eating out, a family outing in the evening, shopping and visit famous local places or some nearby tourist spots. However, there were other factors that definitely put constraints on people opting for one or the other option. For example movie theatres were not many so ticket availability or the distance factor had to be considered by the moviegoers. Weather was a factor largely affecting street shopping. Eating joints, sometimes, were not concentrated at one place.

Then emerged the ‘Mall Culture’ to revolutionize the entire scenario. It brought with it the compact form of entertainment. People no longer had to be bamboozled by the lack of fun choices. They now found everything they wanted under one roof—from a wide array of shopping outlets to a slew of food courts and from movie theatres to beauty and wellness centres. Special areas for kids to have fun by gaming are also present in every mall.

The mushrooming of these malls has now captured almost all Indian cities and towns. The impressive edifices of the malls and their cool ambience entice people, making it hard for them to resist paying a visit. Now, it has been almost a decade since these malls began to surface in the Indian terrain. Still people have not been able to come out of the mall culture. Rather, it is booming and malls have truly become “one stop” for anything and everything.
