Muslim Rashtriya Manch opts for a blood-free Eid this year in Lucknow
Awadh might be synonymous with that Nawabi culture that boasts of lavish meat dishes like biryani and kebabs, but a few Muslims have opted to celebrate a blood-free Eid in Lucknow this year.

The Awadh unit of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, the Muslim wing of RSS refused to sacrifice animals this Bakr-Eid. Instead they cut a 5 kg goat shaped cake at the Manch's Lucknow-based office. The members of the organization also vowed not to cook biryani at home and will be celebrating Eid by distributing sewaiyan and dahi vada to their guests.

The Awadh prant convenor of the Manch, Raees Khan said that they wanted to send a message to the society. "Bakr-Eid can be celebrated also by cutting a cake just like people celebrate birth anniversaries," Khan said.

Co-convenor Hasan Kausar said, "The Bakr-Eid festival spreads a message of humanity. We can sacrifice our children too for Allah but it is not right to kill a goat without any reason and eat its meat." However, Mohd Afzal, the national convenor of the Manch denied having knowledge of any such plans of the Awadh unit.
