I don't think, they are bringing up any kind of Hindutva agenda, but they are now working for the development of the country. Though there is no significant change in the lives of Muslims so far, but we are hoping for good days in future. If the nation is developing then the Muslim community will also develop along with it. We are hoping that the government will work for good and work for all.
Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, National President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind
Till now all is well. There is nothing to substantiate that BJP wants to bring its Hindutva agenda up. But I think this silence is the reason behind the difference between BJP, RSS and the Prime Minister. But we can't say this clearly. Though there were stray comments the agenda of Hindutva has not seen a forceful implementation from BJP or RSS and I think Narendra Modi is to be credited for that. He doesn't seem to be interested in bringing up that agenda. Muslims are afraid of RSS and BJP and we are not afraid of Modi. If the prime minister follows the BJP's agenda, then it will harm the country.
Maulana Abdul Hameed Nomani, Secretary of Jamiat-e Ulema-e Hind
Modi individually has done nothing but ministers under him and others have brought up the agenda of Hindutva. So even though Modi personally remains clean on this issue of Hindutva in his last 100 days of Prime Ministership, his minsters have time and again brought up the topic. Though many muslims like Modi for his work, they are a little confused about his personality at the moment. He has done or said nothing publicly to discourage his ministers who are disturbing the communal harmony. So it seems that Modi is supporting all this silently.
As of now, there are no changes in the condition of Muslim community. But the doubts related to communal harmony and security has increased. If you see in Maharashtra, Western UP, and Jharkhand these people are creating an issue of Love Jihad and Hindutva. It seems that the issue is taking a wrong track. You will never know when this spiral into another communal violence. The Prime Minister should come ahead and discourage such discussions in public else it projects as 'now its our government so we can do anything' from the Hindu radicals.
That said, we are happy about Modi being successful in bringing up the economy and in creating friendly relations with SAARC nations, except Pakistan and China. The Govt. is also trying to work hard on issues like inflation and corruption, which needs to be praised. But speaking strictly on the issues of Muslim security in this country, we have much more expectation from the Prime Minister than what he is doing currently.
