My experience under house arrest!

Your own people, friends, deceive you in difficult days - is the gist of the story. However, I take it as a blessing in disguise. Our old age home -Hope needs your prayers in this difficult time.

I HAPPEN to be the founder member of an old age home namely Hope Senior Citizens Home Society, Gurgaon and facing very tough time since July 31 2011, may be it’s a testing period of my life .

The Attendant who worked for us for years, it has tunred out, has got addicted to drugs, and we couldn’t get a good replacement . One of our inmates used to come during the day has stopped coming due to his ill-health. He was an asset to us. Normally, I used to go home to have lunch and return with packed dinner by 1700 hrs. In my absence he used to take care of things. An inmate who was a son, brother, brother-in-law to a Colonel, Brigadier and Group Capt respectively, went to Ambala to settle his family property dispute but didn’t return.

In this situation, I was left alone under 'House Arrest' to take care of a young lady aged 84 years. She didn’t understand neither English nor Hindi but only Tami, her mother tongue. Imagine how I was managing the show . She preferred Rice / Non-veg or noodels while I am a big zero in cooking.

These days, for want of an attendant, I could only visit my home once a month or so when my wife or son relieve me. On Sundays my son delivers Milk Packets / 6 Chapattis, which I am manage for 2/ 3 days.

We are located on the outskirts of Gurgaon and thus face great difficulty to manage the general provision. We have to manage within our stock till it is replenished by a visitor / family member. Indeed my wife, my son and daughter all support me.

Due to lack of proper conveyance, inmates come and stay for 4/5 days or a week. But under the prevailing circumstance I am unable to move out of the Home. Indeed, believe me or not I am having a sour taste of 'House Arrest' though it has made my faith more stronger and patience. My personal computer is my only company.

Our own Society Members don't come forward to help knowingly, and I am left at the mercy of the Lord. This bad period is the Will of the Lord since certainly HE has a better Plan for us by guiding good inmates, and attendants for us.

Certainly, I now know the feeling how a King / President / Prime Minister / Political Leader is kept under House Arrest, and the problems faced by him / her during such mental torture. Your own people, friends deceive you in the difficult days - is the gist of the story.
