The doctors have been suspecting that it might be encephalitis, which is said to be a sensitive inflammation of the brain. Out of the total deaths so far, 5 happened in the last 32 hours. Most of the children in hospitals are suffering from high fever, getting unconscious for short period of time and convulsions, which is ultimately leading to their death.
As the matter has become a serious issue, a Regional Malaria Research Institute (RMRI) team of experts has been sent to look into the matter. The team members have collected blood samples of various patients which have been sent to a special lab in Pune. The blood samples will be diagnosed at the lab to find the disease the children in Muzaffarpur, Bihar are suffering from. Doctors are very busy at the Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital, and Kejriwal hospital, Muzaffarpur, where most patients of the suspected encephalitis are being admitted for treatment. Other hospitals all over the state have also been alerted about the disease. Some doctors have expressed their concern stating that why these patients are not being treated in private hospitals?
