NaMo gets releif in alleged land allotment scam
The Gujarat government has got clean chit in nine cases of alleged land allotment scam. This will come as a boost to chief minister Narendra Modi on the day when Election Commission announced the dates of assembly elections in the state.

ONE MAN commission in the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court judge MB Shah in its interim report has not found any illegality in land allotments to the various industrial groups, according to the state government.

“The commission has submitted its interim report that has clarified that no irregularity was committed in allotting lands as alleged," said a state government spokesperson.

Notably the Congress has accused that the Narendra Modi government has given undue favours to  certain industrial groups while allotting them land to set up their bases. The land alloted to Tata Motors to establish their factory to manufacture Nano car was among the nine land allotments in question.

The Congress party has demanded that the state government should appoint a Lokayukta in the state to probe the charges of corruption. However, in August last year Modi-led government constituted a single member commission headed by Justice MB Shah to investigate the charges.

According to the dates announced by the election commission the state will go to the polls in two phases on 13 and 17 December later in the year.
