Narendra Modi fires salvo on Congress chief Sonia Gandhi

Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi has alleged that UPA Chairperson and President of Congress party Sonia Gandhi is directly involved in the alleged coal scam.

ADDRESSING A public rally during the BJP's national executive meet in Haryana's Faridabad city, Narendra Modi said that the key person whose name is coming up prominently in the coal scam is that of Sonia Gandhi.

While accusing Sonia Gandhi, Modi referred to a piece of news published in an English daily, according to ANI. The news item had quoted the Prime Minister saying that coal blocks were allotted as per the suggestions of Gandhi's closest aid Ahmed Patel.

“An English daily had come out with a news that has been suppressed later. The news item had quoted Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who said that the coal blocks have been alloted on the advice of Sonia Gandhi's personal secretary Ahmed Patel. The news report indicates direct involvement of Sonia Gandhi in the coal scam. The published pictures in the newspaper shows Manoj Jaiswal presenting a bouquet to Sonia Gandhi in her chamber, where Ahmed Patel was also standing. The nation wants to know the meaning of these pictures,” said Narendra Modi.

Narendra Modi also accused Sonia Gandhi of being behind the government's decision to allow 51% FDI in multi-brand retail. “I want to ask the Prime Minister why he allowed FDI in retail soon after the return of Sonia Gandhi from the US,” said Narendra Modi. The Gujarat CM termed the UPA government as anti-farmer and said that Manmohan Singh is working in the interest of the US government in the wake of forthcoming presidential elections.
