The chief minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi, while addressing a meeting of the state's women cell, asked the women members to do their best to prevent the Congress from spreading mismanagement in the state.
"Elections are won at the booth level. We will win the elections if you (women) bring at least 300 votes per booth for the party (BJP)," said
Narendra Modi, in a public statement.
Modi explained to the women wing about the need of educating children about democracy and elections. He asked them to understand the technicalities of delimitation.
Narendra Modi said that the Congress is campaigning for change of direction, change of situation in Gujarat; however, the country is currently facing a unfavorable situation due to the mismanagement by the Congress. He appealed to activists of the Mahila Morcha to block the way of Congress from getting into the power.
Modi while speaking on this occasion slammed various Congress governments in the state for building just 10 lakh houses for poors since 1960. The chief minister said that in mere last ten years, his government has built 16 lakh houses for the poor, and very soon 4.5 lakh more houses will be built. He also elaborated about the various steps the state government is taking to tackle the problem of drought in some parts of the state.
The chief minister also accused the Congress that it has become intolerant of criticism while citing an example where the Gujarat Congress has banned a regional electronic channel from covering its events. Narendra Modi appealed to the women cell's members to go in to the flash back and remember the time of emergency imposed by former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi during 1975-1977.
