It is said that Narendra Modi is a fast learner and is always serious when there is anything that gives a message of change or development. He promptly took note of the recently assembly election results and the follow up analysis, which reflected in his speech during the ‘Sankhanada Rally’ at Kashi (Banaras) in UP.
He didn't hesitate to take the AAP line that the party is not contesting the general election, it is rather citizens of the country, contesting elections. He not only said this but also meant it. Generally people do not take other party’s line, but Modi being a clever politician he is realised that it should be people’s fight and hence he made this as his line as well.
Seventy per cent of his speech were on public issues, be it cleaning of Ganga, creating jobs, problem of farmers, weavers etc. He not only detailed the problem but also shared his vision, the road map to solve various issues with example of his work. His new slogan, ‘Ham wada leke nahin aye hain, hum irada leke aye hain!’(We have not come with promise but come with an intent).
Clearly, he is mending his strategy and giving a special care to the public mood and messages. I was always complaining that Modi only lays down his vision, not the road map. But for the speech at Kashi, I have nothing to complain.
A good statesman keeps a good eye and lends an important ear as to what people say and what they want. Modi has that caliber unlike many others who believe in wave. L.K.Advani committed that mistake during 2009 elections, when he thought BJP would be an automatic choice of the public. Modi is in no mood to repeat the same mistake and wait for another five years to rectify.
He also took the name of Ram in such a way and in such a context that his hardcore opponents too can’t criticize it. He was very smart in stating that it’s the people of UP, who once helped in the building up of Ramraaj in their land and it’s time for them to choose proper leader to ensure Ramraaj.
Overall his speech was different but very encouraging and convincing too. Let’s expect Rahul to learn a thing or so and come out with some sensible speeches.
