Nation observes Good Friday, PM Modi greets people
Nation is observing Good Friday with religious devotion and solemnity today to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. The followers are revisiting the events of the day in the life of Jesus on this day through public reading of specific Psalms and the Gospels, and singing hymns about Christ's death.

In the Churches, beside the usual liturgical service, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed from midday to 3.00 pm, known as the Three Hours' Agony. At some places, by certain followers the processions with statues representing the Passion of Christ will be held.

"Practice mercy and forgiveness throughout as a lesson that symbolizes the love shown through his (Jesus's) crucifixion," says Unarine Ramaru while summing the message of Good Friday.

On the significance of Good Friday, David Katski says, "Good Friday is a day of sorrow mingled with joy. It is a time to grieve over the sin of man and to meditate and rejoice upon God's love in giving His Only Son for the redemption of sin."

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Good Friday, while greeting people on the occasion in his message on Good Friday being celebrated today, April 14 said, "Today, on Good Friday, we remember the service and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His was a life devoted to mitigating human suffering."
