National conference on contemporary practices in language, literature and education in Indian context in January 2015
The Global Association of English Studies and Waymade College of Education, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat are going to organize jointly the first National Conference on "Contemporary Practices in Language, Literature and Education : Indian Context" on January 30 – 31, 2015.

According to the organizers of the workshop, the proposed conference aims to explore and to scrutinize such dynamics with a central focus on the complementary nature of language, literature and education and their centrality in human life, with specific reference to the arts and humanities studies in the Indian context.

The conference will primarily examine the intersections of language, literature and education and their sub-disciplines with special reference to the Indian context. The primary focus of the proposed conference is to examine the new methodologies, theories, and sites of study that are emerging from this intersection.

The subthemes of the conference are going to be the knowledge base of language teacher education; social, cultural, and political contexts of language teacher education;  education, employability, and employment: the vital bridge;  maintaining quality while widening access: squaring the circle;   innovative pedagogic engagement strategies;  using active learning classrooms to their fullest potential; integration of online, hybrid, and collaborative learning;  engaging community partners; catering to learners with special needs;  teaching learning materials for constructivist paradigm;   assessment practices to language and literature teaching;  educational measurement and evaluation;  evaluation rubrics; and many more.

Also, the papers have invited on pedagogic issues and challenges; inter-disciplinarity in language teaching and learning; research in education;  classroom practitioners' research : a sure way to solve problems; educational communicationsand technology; e-learning;  increasing affordability and access to the internet;  higher education and research scenario in India;  teaching and research;  open book examination;  quality enhancement practices;  value systems in higher education and research; inclusiveness in higher education and research;  discourse analysis;  language, gender and power; language in feminism and gender studies;  language and post colonialism; linguistic studies;  the analysis of language and language use as providing a window into non-linguistic cognitive processes and structures;  linguistic, psychological and mathematical models of language; computational  psycholinguistics; communication studies;  culture, communication and identity; Indian English strands; translation : theory and praxis; English for specific purposes;  English in corporate world;  English for business purposes;  English in legal practices;  English for other science and technology and so on.

In order to cover a wide range of topics, workshops, panel discussions, round-table sessions, invited talks, parallel sessions, poster presentations and interactions will be organized during two-day conference.
