Rural Development Minster Ali Muhammad Sagar addressed the gathering few minutes before the workers were attacked by the angry mob outside the Sher-i-Kashmir stadium.
ANGRY YOUTH paraded and hurled stones at National Conference workers as they where coming out from Gram Sabha Mela in Sher-i-Kashmir stadium in north Kashmir's Bandipora district. Rural Development Minster Ali Muhammad Sagar addressed the gathering few minutes before the event took place.
As the people were coming out from the Mela, the mob present outside the stadium pelted stones on the national workers and their vehicles and raised pro-freedom slogans, which created chaos at the venue. At the time, Ali Muhammad Sagar was about to leave the venue, Police and CRPF swung into action and fired pellet shells on protesters which left five people injured. Two critically injured youth, Javed Ahmad of Watpora and Mudasir Ahmad of Nowpora were referred to a hospital in Srinagar. Protests were also reported from Jamia Qadeem.
Eyewitnesses told the media present there that the injured people were dragged by the CRPF and police personnel and were beaten mercilessly. Earlier many National Conference workers were chased away by youths from Jamia Qadeem early morning, who were coming from Saderkoot, Ajas, Garoora and Sumbal to participate in Gram Sabha Mela.
