National Voter's Day celebrated in J&K's Poonch
The third National Voter's day was celebrated in Poonch district with the main function at Government Degree College Poonch. District Election Officer Poonch Sh Ajeet Kumar Sahu presided over the function.

Many officers, prominent citizens and new voters attended the ceremony on January 25. The function started with lighting of traditional lamp. Later, the message of Chief election Commissioner of India was read, and a pledge was administered for thoughtful use of voting right by everyone.

Election Photo Identity cards (EPIC) were distributed amongst young voters by the Chief Guest. DEO Poonch highlighted the importance of voting rights provided to the citizen’s in nation building and appealed to all to use it as an effective tool.

Subsidiary programs were also organised at many places in district. In Mendhar, the SDM attended the function at Sagra while at other places Tehsildars distributed the EPICs to new voters. The new voters were seen enthusiastic at the occasion and appreciated the efforts. All new voters were also given a carry card mentioning ‘I’m a proud voter’.
