The rally will be flagged off from INA Play Ground, Bilasipara, at 9:30 am. Moreover, the central function of 'National Voters Day' is also going to be held in Bilasipara Public Higher Secondary School on January 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
AS PER the directives of the Election Commission of India, along with the rest of the country, National Voters Day is going to be celebrated centrally on January 25, 2011, at Bilasipara Election District.
In this connection, a week long programme has begun at polling station level under the supervisions of the Assistant Election Regstration Officers (AEROs) of the two LACs, namely 26 Bilasipara West and 27 Bilasipara East, from January 19, 2011 and is scheduled to culminate on January 25, 2011.
It may be noted that the Election Commission of India was established in accordance with the Constitution on January 25, 1950. The Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Election Commission formally started on January 25, 2010 at Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, by Pratibha Devisingh Patil, President of India, and as such it is going to conclude on January 25, 2011. To mark the conclusion of the celebration and to generate interests among voters in enrolling their names in the electoral rolls and make them understand the importance of exercise of votes, the commission had decided to observe January 25, 2011 as National Voters Day.
The Commission lays great emphasis on enrollment of all eligible voters in the electoral rolls. Therefore, the voter list is revised every year. Besides, there is provision to update the roll amid revision of voters’ lists in two phases. The chief electoral officers of state and districts have been instructed to organize awareness events in association with media, Panchayat, educational institutes, NGOs etc.
In Bilasipara Election District, under the able supervision of the Sub-Divisional officer (Civil), Dhruba Jyoti Das, who is also the designated District Election officer, besides organising series of awareness campaigns in association with media, Panchayat, educational institutes, NGOs etc. A “Cycle Rally” as a measure of voters’ awareness is also going to be held on January 24, 2011, at 9:30 AM. The rally will be flagged off from INA Play Ground, Bilasipara, at 9:30 am. Moreover, the central function of “National Voters Day” is also going to be held in Bilasipara Public Higher Secondary School on January 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM.
In the central function on January 25, 2011, the newly enrolled voters will be felicitated by the District Election officer of Bilasipara election district, Dhruba Jyoti Das, with the view to encourage them vote, to make them realise the importance of exercise of votes and also to ensure the greater participation of the electors for building up of a stronger foundation of democracy.
