Today is the National Voter's day and Election Commission is trying everything possible to make people conscious of the significance of their vote. Rigorous campaign and correct media coverage can encourage many youngsters to exercise their right.
THE GOVERNMNET has chosen the title song of ‘Wake Up Sid’ movie for a youth campaign to inform the people of their voting rights and the difference, a single vote can make in a democracy. In order to draw the point home that they come out and vote, the song keeps playing on the radio and Internet.

This is the second year, as last year as well January 25 was declared as the National Voter’s Day. The election Commission in order to bring out all the voters and vote have decided to identify all the people under the age of 18 on January 1, each year in all the 8.5-lakh polling station areas of the country.
In Delhi, the former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will attend a function on the National Voters' Day function and distribute Elector Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to 20 newly eligible and enrolled voters, who belong to different the sections of society, along with a badge that says “Proud to be a Voter- Ready to Vote”.
Among the various campaigns, the election Commission of India has also started a comprehensive Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) to educate and spread awareness among the youth and women. The Election Commission also urged the media to join hands so as to ask the people to vote, which is their right and responsibility.
