National Youth Day: Nation remembers Swami Vivekananda on his Jayanti
The nation observed the National Youth Day to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12. Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Swami Vivekananda on his Jayanti and in his released message said, "Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached. Remembering these powerful words, and the rich thoughts of the venerable Swami Vivekananda on his Jayanti. He emphasised on the ideals of service and renunciation. His belief in Yuva Shakti was unwavering."

"The thoughts and ideals of Swami Vivekananda inspire and energise crores of Indians, particularly our youth. It is from him that we draw the motivation of building an India that is strong, vibrant, inclusive and an India that takes global leadership in several areas," he added.

Swami Vivekananda as a spiritual leader had shot to fame after his impressive speech at the World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893 highlighting the tenets of practical Vedanta philosophy.

The day is being observed with talks, discussions, debates, cultural shows, discourses, quizzes and other similar activities in educational institutions.

In Chandigarh, the seventh edition of the national youth summit titled 'EVOKE-2019' is being organised with the theme of 'Indian Youth: An Unpolished Diamond' with a number of events.

Three Vivekananda quotes:

-We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.

-Condemn none; if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.

-Our duty is to encourage everyone in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth. The more we come out and do good to others, the more our hearts will be purified, and God will be in them.
