NAVJYOTI INDIA Foundation and TNI- The NIIT Institute of Information Technology, along with the support of Adobe and Charities Aid Foundation(CAF) started the Learning centre for the youth last year and is celebrating today its 1st Annual Day.
The function started by lighting the holy lamp by Chandni Bedi, Head- Quality Management from Navjyoti India Foundation and Preeti Batra, Centre Head from TNI. What followed was a small stage drama performed by the students portraying the message of the POWER OF VOTE to their audience. The day also invited students who successfully passed out the program and gave away recognition certificates to the students. Amidst the dance, singing and the stage dramas there was a ray of confidence which gleamed among the other students to have Navjyoti and TNI as a platform to step into a different stage of life of self sustenance. Navjyoti India Foundation empowers the young minds to live a life of respect, knowledge and honesty and also encourages them to pass on this message to other who would benefit from a similar program and thus help empower themselves.
The Career Development Centre being run by Navjyoti and TNI imparts training in areas such as Retail Management and Tally and have trained over 200 youth beneficiaries from JahangirPuri and its adjoining areas. What is heartening to know is that through this program over eight percent of the students who are enrolled have been placed with either some retail houses or corporate. This program has shown direction and has given opportunity to the youth of today to enrol themselves in programs that help them in long term. Among the ones who was recognised with a certificate for completing their course was Deep Kaur and Lakshmi. Kaur comes from a family whose monthly income is not more than Rs 5000 and wanting to help her family ahead she chose this program while she is already studying with Delhi University. When asked how this program has helped her she said that this is going to help her getting a job once she is done with her graduation after 2 years. She said that she was already confident since she has volunteered for 4 months with Navjyoti India Foundation and the program content has build her confidence level to an extent that she can now walk high on her heels and feel proud about herself. Deep Kaur also has a brother who is driver and has enrolled himself to the Community Learning Centre to ensure a better tomorrow. Lakshmi’s father died while she was a child leaving behind her brother and their mother. Her brother works as a painter on a day wage basis. Laksmi says that when she got to know about this program she knew that this was the ticket for having a better life and also help her family financially. This gave her a reason to join our program and today she passed out the retail management course with A Plus Grade. She has already worked for 4 months with Virgin Mobile Store as a part of the internship program and wishes to continue her work with great pride and respect for herself.
