The Naxal movement is targeted at the government. It has joined hands with Pakistan?s security agency, the ISI, to destabilise India, their common goal. Unemployed youngsters fall prey to the Naxals since starvation is a serious alternative.
THE NAXALS are a communist group, an outcome of the Sino-Soviet split, at the height of the Indian communist movement. In the first few years of its birth, the group remained confined to the jungles of West Bengal. Underground activities of organisations like the Communist Party of India (Maoist) supported them and thus helped them spread their tentacles into the remote areas of Central and Eastern India, particularly Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. They have been agitating against the Indian government for the past 50 years. The Naxals are scattered across an area accounting for 40 per cent of our land. 20,000 insurgents are currently involved in the Naxal movement.
In recent years, the activities of Naxals have increased manifold, mainly in eastern India. The government of India reckons that the Naxal movement is being aided by the Pakistani security agency, ISI, to enable it to carry out anti-national activities in the country and thus destabilise it. Asinine though it is, the Naxals may have joined hands with the Islamic terrorist movement in India, since they share with it the ideology of vitiating the country’s peace.
The most unfortunate part of it all is that the youth of the country are being influenced by the Naxal ideology and as a result, involve themselves in the Naxal movement. Some of the main reasons for this are the growing problems of unemployment and poverty. The Naxalites have money to offer to youngsters, the prime need of the latter in this hour and as a result, the movement gains strength.
The problem does not end here. Naxalism is a growing menace in the country and poses a greater threat than the terrorist organisations from across the border. The looting and killing in the polling booths during the recent Lok Sabha election shows the intensity of their activities. Serious efforts have to be made to curb this movement before it cripples the very survival of democracy in India.
.naxalism is a result of discontent among the people ,due to the rising inequality in the society. Poor people in the far off villages would obviously be more inclined towards the maoists who show sympathy towards them and lure them to wage a war against the government for a few incentives.
naxalism will prove to be more dangerous than terrorism if not contained by the government at the earliest.
people must be provided with basic infrastuctural facilities in their villages and employment oppurtunities to be provided. Also making them understand the true objective of the maoists is a urgent pre requisite.
The naxals who are using the poor farmers for gaining power must be dealt with an iron hand and must not be allowed to grow again .
.naxalism can be defeated only if indian government talks with them. you have to punish them very hardly, mercilessly i.e. death penalty only with heavy torture. it is a shame that so many police persons are dying of naxal attaks and our govt. only saying "we condemn it, our sympathies are with families of the people those died". it is a high time now and if the action is not taken now, no one will join police force and the situation will be like LTTE in Sri lanka. Government has deal in a very harsh way and death penalty will be the correct justice. Govt. should not tell each and everything to the media, humanrights etc. Our judiciary system should change atleast when it comes to terrorism. There is no fear in the minds of terrorists about carrying out attaks in India because they know that Indian judiciary system is so stupid that you can get away even if are caught. Look at the example of kasab [pig] . Why there is a need of having a trial when cameras show his crime. What else proof does the govt. want? This is clearly foolish, ridiculous and very conducive for terrorists or naxals to carry out such attaks.
