Nearsightedness increasing in America - reasons, cure
Nearsightedness is on a rise in America. the increase could be attributed to genetics, poor lighting and our near work. Near work includes reading, surfing the web, texting, watching tv.

 
Nearsightedness is on a rise in America. The number of nearsighted is increasing dramatically. The National Eye Institute said that the percentage of nearsightedness in Americans is a whooping 41 percent as compared to 25 percent in the year 1970. The Institute compared the data from more than people tested in 1971 and 1972 with data collected from people tested in 1994 to 2004.
 
It is important to do more research and identify the problems because although nearsightedness is easily treated, its costs US $2 to $3 billion annually. One needs to participate in outdoor activities, where one can stimulate far vision. One should also get recommended eye care exams and treatment as necessary.

Distant objects appear blurry, One needs to squint to see clearly and at times it causes headaches due to excessive eye strain

 
Treatment for Nearsightedness
 
Nearsightedness can be treated in several ways, including eyeglasses, contact lenses, or a surgical technique known as Lasik. Lasik is the most common laser surgery used to correct nearsightedness. The surgery involves the use of a laser to make a tiny flap in the cornea and so at times is also referred to as Flap and zap.
