Need to imbibe Lord Rama's message and mission in life
As Diwali is drawing near, Vishva Hindu Parishad, RSS and some leaders of BJP have started demanding that government should bring in a legislation in the winter session of the Parliament for a constitutional and lawful way of sorting out Ram Mandir issue since the hearing of the Ayodhya land dispute case has been shifted to first week the year 2019 by the Supreme Court.

However, this is also the time to learn from the life of Lord Rama as described in the scriptures regarding how to ethically and fairly face the difficult circumstances and moral dilemmas in life. The scriptures depict the life story of Rama, Sita and their companions along with the duties, rights, model behaviour and social responsibilities of an individual.

Rama is especially important to Vaishnavism founded on the inspiration from the ideal life lived by Him as described in the texts such as the Adhyatma Ramayana  and the Ramcharitmanas, which are deemed as spiritual and theological treatise revered by millions of Hindus.

Here are some teachings of Lord Rama said in an acrostic and haiku

A: Aware about the higher truth and

M: Managed life and kingdom blissfully (Ram-Rajya) with his presence and

A: Appearance that was always charming (Rama) and pleasing as an ideal person (Maryada-Purushottam) and Sita's husband (Siyaavar)

Haiku based on the life of Lord Rama

Look beyond shortfalls, / Look at possibilities. / Strive and be happy.

 Keep eyes on goal./ Obstacles will disappear,/ No more visible.

Know who you're really. / Be yourself and trust yourself / To live life wisely.

Learn to give only. / Give love, you will receive love. / Give, real will come in.

Live pro-actively / Desire not what you have not / To cleanse your mind-n-soul.

Believe in pro-action / To cleanse and elevate mind, / Liberate yourself.

The Divine Life Society, while urging 'Let Rama be Your Ideal' writes on its website, "The noblest lesson embodied in the Ramayana is the supreme importance of righteousness in the life of every human being. Righteousness is the spiritual spark of life. Cultivation of righteousness is the process of the unfoldment of the latent divinity in man. The glorious incarnation of the Supreme Being, as Lord Rama, has exemplified through his own life, how to follow the path of righteousness. Let mankind follow in his footsteps and practise the ideals cherished by Him, for it is only thus that there can be everlasting peace, prosperity and welfare in this world."
