Last week two websites published sensational tapes related to the 2G spectrum scam case and figured the involvement of two eminent journalists, viz Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi in it during their conservation with corporate lobbyist Nira Radia.
However, Vir Sanghvi and Barkha Dutt have strongly objected and described their interactions with Radia as rightful news gathering exercise. Their statement failed to cut much ice with the online world. The young netizens on numerous websites are posting comments give deep insight into their psychology and show how cyber heroes can be made to die overnight.

On popular social networking sites, numerous communities have marked their presence overnight which is followed by 5,000 people. Searches like "barkhagate" and "Bharka" have been two of the top searched topics, with about 10 posts every minute on the subject. One such post which was aired numerous times on Wednesday was "Nira Radia grilled for 8 hours when will Barkha Dutt and Vir Sanghvi join her in jail?"

"India's fiercely competitive and hungry free press has become the rising nation's watchdog, unearthing a long list of banking scandals, real estate scams and, most recently, extensive government corruption during the international Commonwealth Games. But in recent days, Indian journalists have also been accused of wrongdoing, including having inappropriate conversations with a corporate lobbyist and acting more like power brokers in recordings released as part of an investigation into an alleged high-stakes swindle - considered the biggest scandal to hit the new India," says one of the leading news dailies in the West.

Although the tapes are proving their involvement in the scam, Vir Sanghvi was stranded by his employer while Barkha still has got a ray of hope from the channel she works in.

Somehow I had a feeling from the beginning about these so called journalists that they can go to any extent for money followed by name/fame. I never had a good impression about these journalists who talk more than required and go with the power. It is difficult to describe in words the kind of damage these jounalists can do (though Barkha would be the all time great with no competetion from any one in the years to come) but I only feel symathatic to the people who got impressed with these characterless people who can sell anything provided they get what they want. The kind of _____ these jornalists created and made others to follow them would be difficult to remove. I an sure when we talk of productivity in this country to my mind only the starving daily wage earners come to the fore. I doubt whether we have any meaningful living compromising to uncompromising positions all throughout out daily life and thinking that we are adding to the productivity. It is time to ignore these buffoons by banning any of their public appearance. Shame has no meaning in todays world. This might as well removed from the dictionary.
