New deadly drug 'China white' being sneaked into Indian markets from Myanmar
A large portion of the Indian population is addicted to nicotine, alcohol, guthka etc despite the government making efforts to discourage their consumption.

Simultaneously, consumption of heroin, cocaine, brown sugar (adulterated form of heroin) is also high. According to a UN agency's report, India is the biggest consumer of heroin a south Asia. According to the survey, out of around 40 tonnes of heroin that is produced in south Asia every year, nearly 17 tonnes is consumed in India with a trade value of $1.4 billion. There are close to 5 million people addicted to it. At the same time India is also a big market for cocaine and brown sugar.

But now, India's narcotics market is being gradually introduced with a new designer drug called 'China white' which is 100 times stronger than heroin. This drug is also called heroin no 4. It works like other drugs and comes in powdered form, which can be inhaled or injected.

This designer drug which is consumed more in the United States, is now gaining popularity in the national capital. In the year 2016 alone, 20100 deaths were caused in the US because of this drug. China white is made from fenatanyl – an opioid painkiller with a rapid onset and short duration of action. Death from fentanyl overdose was declared a public health crisis in Canada in September 2015. In 2016, deaths from fentanyl overdose in British Columbia and Canada averaged at around two persons per day.

Most users think that China white means a purer form of fentanyl , but actually its fentanyl mixed with a certain amount of heroin to provide higher satisfaction. Heroin users are inclined to prefer China white to give them more kick in heroin's comparison.

This nasty drug is smuggled into India from Myanmar illegally through Mizoram and Manipur, from where it reaches Delhi and other places in the country. On Wednesday, the Mizoram police seized a large quantity of China white. "It was being smuggled from Myanmar and was for consumption in the northeastern states," police officer says. Other agencies including Delhi police had also seized 12 kgs of China white in recent past which is estimated to be worth Rs 50 crore in the international market.

So, the Indian government should be extra careful and prevent the illegal trade of this killer drug.
