As per the Arjun Sengupta report about 77 per cent of Indians survive on less than Rs 20 a day. The N.C. Saxena Committee report states India's below the poverty line population population is 50 per cent. How one can dare to prove this research as false?
THE DEFINITION of below poverty line given by the Central Government of India is really very funny and far away from reality. Real life is not like the canteen of Parliament where rich MPs get a cup of tea in one rupee only. In reality it is impossible to get the same outside the confines of the esteemed Parliament House. I think policy makers do not have experience to buy any household item from the market. The publicly quoted prices of milk, sugar, vegetables, tea, rice, and wheat - are all a mockery of the public's good sense. It is strange that in the meeting for preparing the rate chart, not a single member had practical experience of buying consumer items from market.

The rates quoted are totally untrue, and prepared in the luxurious confines of a government office. People are suffering from price rise, and there seem to be no measures to provide relief to the poor. In other words one can say that the government is enjoying high power, including inflation-indexed salaries and perks. Is their intention to overlook the state of the poor.
It is ridiculous to think that the below poverty line can be estimated at Rs 32 in urban areas and Rs 26 in rural places. How much more does the government want to reduce subsidies for the poor and other facilities provided to the poor? Rather, it seems the motto of the government is to show that poverty has been eliminated by efforts of government.
why do they ask for handsome perks and all facility free .ask one of them to live a life of a commoner for a day with rs 20 even that is for a single person come out of airconditions why should they care so far their sons and daughtes study and reside in england ,america ,australiaetc
