The Delhi government has replaced paper stamps with electronic stamping in all its districts courts with a motive to curb fraudulent practices and ensure smooth transactions.

Delhi has become the first state in the country to introduce e-court fee in all its district courts. The facility of e-stamping was introduced in Delhi High court in November 2012. Tax experts have to say that e-stamping is a good change, and will help people in many ways. Experts also said the system of electronic stamping will also help in preventing stamp scams like the Telgi scam.
E-stamping will help in minimizing the chances of stamp scam like the one which happened in the past,” Surya Bhatia, tax expert told this
citizen journalist .
With Kakardooma becoming the last court to implement e-stamping from last week, all six district courts in Delhi have become equipped with e-stamping. The District Courts at Dwarka, Patiala House, Rohini and Saket have already implemented e-court fee system.
The entire exercise took just three weeks for the revenue department to switch over from adhesive stamps to e-stamping system in the shortest possible time.
E-stamping is a unique system, which enables the public and lawyers to get a court fee receipt of exact denomination, irrespective of the amount, thus, making the entire process of remitting court fee entirely paper-free.
