UNITED STATES President Barack Obama signed the landmark health care bill into law on Tuesday in the East Room of the White House, in front of 600 people that also included all 219 House members who voted in favor of health care bill on Sunday. The new health care bill is expected to help overhaul the country’s health system. Some 32 million Americans, who don’t have healthcare coverage, will benefit from the bill.
Many Americans are still confused about the health care bill and are still trying to figure out how it will ameliorate their condition. These are some facts about the health care reform bill:
A 2.5 per cent income tax is levied on individuals who do not have health care coverage, limited to a cost less than the average national health care premium.
Those who do not have healthcare coverage will get in stages.
There are special provisions for people who do not earn much.
Extension of parents’ health insurance to their children who are young adults will rise up to the age of 27.
Under this new Health Care Reform Bill, there’s a 0.9 per cent increase in Medicare payroll taxes for Americans who earn more than $200,000 annually individually and $250,000 for couples.
