So the Rs 10 coin is unique also as it is made of nickel and bronze on the outer side and ferrous steel on the inner side. The coin weighs around eight grams, with 28 mm diameter. It has a sheen of gold-silver mixture.
This design has been made by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
The face of the coin is divided into three portions. The central portion bears the "Lion Capitol" of Ashoka Pillar.
RBI says the new coin is a stylized representation of "Unity in Diversity", a defining characteristic of India.
