A new company, Skylark Highways Solutions Ltd. appointed by concessionaire of Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway has taken the undertaking of Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway for coming nine months. It is likely to supervise operations and maintenance of about 27 km stretch soon. Collection process of toll at Kherki Dhaula Plaza will be done by it.
"Apart from handling the usual maintenance and
operations of the Expressway, the new operator has been entrusted
with the task of ratcheting up the toll revenue which currently
hovers in the range of Rs 38-39 lakh in the week days," said
Raghuraman, the CEO of MCEPL (Millennium City Expressways Pvt Ltd),
the concessionaire, according to a TOI report.
Following the business
purpose and work, Gurgaon
become the first destination to the people. That's why the number
of vehicles is increasing day to day. Nearly 2.5 Lakh vehicles make
the path into the city through Expressway daily from Delhi. Apart
from this, over fifty thousand vehicles can be seen going through the
Kherki Daula toll plaza from Gurgaon to new sectors (58-115) and
Now officials expect huge current toll collection
revenue. However, this is far from the reality as daily collusion
between toll collection agents and defaulters has reduced the
collection. Sometimes the agents overlook the tax for the pocket
money that causes to revenue deficit.
Following the problems coming in toll collection,
the concessionaire hoped that the automatic vehicle classification
and counting (AVCC) will reform the condition at toll plaza. The
machine is likely to be imported from Austria and will be installed
at toll tax in few weeks.
Another radical transformation which will soon come
into effect is the re-carpetting of the entire expressway.
