Neymar - the new Messi?
Twenty-one-year-old Neymar, a Brazilian forward, has signed a five-year contract with Barcelona for an estimated fee of around 48 million pounds. This would bestow him an opportunity to play alongside Lionel Messi, the best football player in the world, presently.

Such has been his goal scoring abilities that he has already drawn comparison with Lionel Messi. But on the flip side, this could add to the pressure on the young soccer sensation. Even the legendary figure, Pele stated that Neymar has the capabilities of playing better than Messi. But, Neymar should not try to emulate the success of Messi, which is too monumental a climb upward as of now. He needs to concentrate on his game and the rest of things will fall in place.

Neymar started his football career with Santos in 2009, where he played 225 matches for the club and scored an impressive 136 goals in his career. Barcelona is only his second team, where he will make his debut in the upcoming season. It was while playing for Santos that the player gradually started to come to the notice, and was also picked for the Brazilian national team. He has represented Brazil at various age levels as well.

He made his international debut in August 2010 against the US, and opened his goal scoring account in the 28th minute of the match. As of now, the Brazilian striker has scored more than 20 goals in 35 appearances, which also includes his last goal against Japan in the ongoing 2013 Confederations cup.

He is one of the most important players for Brazil in the ongoing championship along with the upcoming World Cup in 2014. If Brazil is to win the prestigious World Cup title, it is very important that Neymar is in top of his game to out-rattle defenders with his skills and goal scoring abilities.

What makes Neymar extra special is the way he effectively uses his feet to score goals, which even the world's best player, Messi is not good at, as the latter is primarily a left-footed player. Neymar edges Messi, as far as scoring goals with headers are also concerned. Like other great strikers, Neymar is excellent with the ball on his feet, where he can bamboozle defenders with his burst of pace along with his dribbling skills. Neymar's finishing ability also belongs to the top quality.

The Brazilian wonder-star has already won a number of awards in the country, which include Golden Boot in 2010, 2011 and 2012 for the most goals in all competitions in Brazil, Golden Ball in 2011 for the Best player in Brazilian League by magazine Placar, Young Player of the Year in 2011, FIFA Club World Cup Bronze Ball in 2011, South American Footballer of the Year in 2011 and 2012, FIFA Puskás Award in 2011, just to name a few.

But, what seems missing in his kitty is the FIFA Ballon d'Or, which is considered to be the biggest football award for an individual player, which Messi has won three times in 2010, 2011 and 2012. If he continues to play in the same way and carries his Santos form to Barcelona, it would not be far off, when Neyamr would also be bestowed with such awards.
