Niranjan Hojai, the commander-in-chief of Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel), who was arrested on Friday (July 2) last is being interrogated at the special branch headquarters at Kahilipara, Guwahati. The court has remanded Hojai to seven day NIA custody.
THE CAPTURED commander-in-chief of Dima Halam Daogah (Jewel), (an insurgent outfit in the North Cachar Hills district of Assam), Niranjan Hojai is being questioned at the special branch headquarters at Kahilipara, Guwahati. The court has remanded the DHD(J) commander-in-chief to seven day National Investigation Agency (NIA) custody.
Niranjan Hojai was arrested in Nepal on Friday (July 2) last and he is one of the accused in the first ever NIA investigation. He was involved in connection with the illegal siphoning of funds of North Cachar Hills District Autonomous Council.
Hojai has formally laid down arms on October 2, 2009, along with 400 DHD-J militants, later fled to the designated camp of the outfit when his name figured in the NIA charge-sheet in connection with the multi-crore-rupees NC Hills scam.
