NIREM concerned over lack of real estate education in India
National Institute of Real Estate Management (NIREM) considers absence of real estate education in India, the major cause of manpower shortage in the Indian real estate sector and launches various real estate management courses.
WITH THE dynamic growth of real estate in India over the last few years, the need for manpower also increased tremendously. Moreover, in the absence of trained and competent professionals, real estate employers including real estate developers and real estate consultants started attracting talented professionals from other sectors by paying huge pay packages. Suddenly real estate became very glamorous and thousands of graduates and MBAs started planning to start their career in real estate.

However, there is no system of real estate education in India, not even a single real estate course, which is a major factor that prohibits fresh graduates from entering into this market. In fact, on the one hand, the absence of real estate education in India is worsening the situation of manpower shortage in the Indian real estate sector and on the other hand, though there are thousands of fresh graduates and MBAs who want to start their career in real estate, there is no real estate course which can orient them for a career in real estate. It is a well known fact that real estate is a technical matter which can’t be handled by anyone unless he or she has suitable background in various subject areas of real estate including real estate laws and the property transactions. This background can be provided if we have an established system of real estate education which not present in India.

Considering the above facts, IDS National Institute of Real Estate Management (IDS NIREM), has chalked out a long term strategy of real estate education in India to guide fresh graduates and MBAs who want to make their career in real estate and property sector. NIREM, set up by the industry development society for real estate, has also launched real estate courses in different areas of real estate; at different levels eg, PG diploma, diploma and certificate courses in commercial real estate, real estate management, real estate sales and agency management etc. These real estate management courses are of up to one year duration and are also delivered through distance education mode.

These high impacts, industry-driven and employment-oriented programmes offer both the fresh graduates who intend to pursue a career in real estate and the working professionals, an unequaled educational growth and career advancement opportunity.
