This would have been graceful & decent. But he intentionally said those words in a bitter tone, meaning 'when destruction is near, one acts with deluded mind'.The Hindi proverb also can be said in English, ‘Intellect loses identity when doom looms large!’
Now Nitish predicted doomsday in the context of BJP party and Modi. What about his prospect & his party’s prospect at the moment? Let’s examine Nitish’s rise, his recent decision and possible consequences!
Nitish Kumar is always a brightest prospect in the original Janata Dal family. However Lalu Yadav prevailed upon Nitish thus forcing him to split. First JD (U), then Samata party & finally merger of Samata Party in JDU, Nitish in fact was part of splitting, merging with an intention to find an identity.
George Fernandez could be considered his political godfather, who really guided him from oblivion to a tall leader. Fernandez is first decided to join NDA, which brought Nitish Kumar to relevance. In NDA government people started realizing the potentials in him.
However in Bihar, it was Lalu who always looked invincible due to his unique caste equations and patented Muslim-Yadav (MY) theory. Many said it as Lalu’s personalized social engineering. Despite good work by NDA at centre, NDA still couldn’t come to power in Bihar!
People of Bihar were upset with Jungle rule of Lalu. Hence there was a hung assembly during 2004. But in 2005, people of Bihar gave clear mandate to NDA in expectation of peace, development and growth. Nitish didn’t miss the chance and reciprocated with true intent.
Miracle happened in Bihar. Both JDU and BJP, in general and Nitish and Sushil Modi in particular constituted a strong partnership and put Bihar in fast track to prosperity.
Within three-four years of his effective rule, his stature increased highly and he is compared with Narendra Modi who was also a talking persona at that time. This perhaps incited a rivalry in Nitish’s mind. That’s why he didn’t allow Modi for election campaign during 2010.
Any way people of Bihar rewarded NDA again for the good governance, development and prosperity and gave almost 3/4th majority during the 2010 assembly election. Nitish almost reached to pinnacle as he was also internationally acknowledged. Some time when a person reaches at pinnacle, ego and over confidence takes over.
Nitish perhaps is trapped in that problem and taken Bihar for granted. On the name of Modi, first he put BJP on toes and one fine day he walks away from NDA! Interestingly he didn’t even estimate the consequences.
Unlike Odisha, BJP has a very strong presence in Bihar. It’s a structured and cadre based party that really helped NDA to win. JDU is a party of leaders and no cadre structure. Only personality doesn’t help wining here. It required ground work too! Except Nitish none is credible! In Odisha BJD is a cadre based party and hence without BJP it could win.
Interestingly Nitish’s reason of splitting from NDA is clearly on secular vote bank politics. He forgot that Lalu is champion of such politics but rejected by people! How can Nitish be beneficial in such politics when a Lalu is on the ground?
Many thought, Nitish’s biggest mistake is adopting the same strategy that had been prime strategy for RJD! BJP is projecting Modi for development! Thus the fight in Bihar is again between development versus vote bank politics in 2013 where Nitish would be on wrong side!
Thus whose ‘Vinash kaal’is now & whose ‘Bipreet Buddhi’ ? Nitish may say it in the context of BJP and Modi but isn’t it applicable to him and his party JDU during and post split from NDA? At least various opinion polls say so and many JDU leaders endorse it privately!
Conclusion is Nitish unfortunately suffering now from the syndrome of ‘Intellect loses entity when doom looms large’. Instead commenting ‘Vinash kale Bipreet Buddhi’ to BJP, will he introspect?
