No ban on Wasim Akram in India
The government of India has denied reports that it has played any role in getting the name of Wasim Akram dropped from a panel of commentators for the forthcoming T20 Champions League tournament.
AMIDST RUMOURS that organisers of the upcoming T20 Champions League were pressurised by India to exclude former Pakistani pace ace Wasim Akram from the commentary panel, the Indian government has denied any role in the whole affair.

The government on Monday made it clear they it had not interfered in selection of commentary panel after reports appeared in Pakistan media that Indian government had denied Akram permission to commentate in India.

A Pakistani daily had reported that the T20 organisers were forced to drop Akram from the commentary panel on instructions of Indian authorities. The rumours spread after Akram was told by the organisers at the last moment that his services were not required.

It was also said that the former pace star was surprised after he was told that the organisers were avoiding him because of policy instructions from Indian government.
Meanwhile, Indian Premier League also said that there is no ban on Akram in India. BCCI officials said that his name did not figure on the official list of commentators sent to it by ESPN Star Sports.

It is quite likely that Akram's name was dropped from the list because there is no team from Pakistan participating in the event, sources said.

Champions League Twenty20 features the best teams of the domestic Twenty20 tournaments of different countries. The first edition of the tournament will be played in India from October 8 to 23 and will feature 12 teams.
